It was great seeing the flock of Seaside’s Winter Texans at church yesterday. Several of them were saying their goodbyes for the year, headed for places unknown – or back to their summer homes in the now-not-so-frozen Northlands. We were invited by several of them to stop by and see them on our own upcoming travels. Not sure that will happen this time, but there will be other trips, guys. Meanwhile … be safe.
Sunday
afternoon was made for how I filled it yesterday. A nap and some college basketball. Four Texas teams played this weekend to see
who could make it to the Sweet Sixteen round of the NCAA Tournament. That was good news for those who took up Mattress
Mack on his mattress deal. Something
about a Texas team making it to the final four and winning it all will win you
a refund on your $3,000 purchase. That
guy is incredibly generous, but I’m not one to gamble like that. We’ll stick with the bedding we already
have.
So,
back to the tournament. When I was
awake, I did indeed do some binge watching.
University of Houston won their game.
Texas Tech won theirs. University
of Texas couldn’t pull theirs out against Purdue. And late last night – really late – TCU took
top seed Arizona into overtime, but finally lost. Great game.
In fact, most of them have been pretty good games. Not a whole lot of blow-outs. Lots of games decided by just a few points,
some on buzzer-beaters. Just what you hope
for in a tournament like this. The bottom
half of my predicted bracket is destroyed with losses by Baylor and
Auburn. Still alive in the top, though. Go Gonzaga.
Or … wouldn’t it be cool to see an All-Texas final? It could happen. Texas Tech vs. University of Houston. It could happen.
Jeremiah
29:13 says, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your
heart.”
Father,
please be with our Winter Texan friends as they head away from the Island. Give them safe travels and fun journey. Amen.

Kelley, I was on camera for that Auburn game. There were a lot of tight games in the second round and I hated the Baylor loss as well. Hope all is going well for you and Chris. Blessings on Seaside, we love you folks.
