January 5 - “Wait Mode”

Jennifer’s surgery seems to have gone off without a hitch.  The doctor said the site was clean and infection free, and the external halo apparatus was installed without problem.  She’ll be on antibiotics for several weeks to fight off any of the post-operative infections that may be lurking beneath the surface that have plagued her so many times in the past.  Now Jennifer and Bryan return to Wait Mode for however long it takes for the bones to begin the healing process.

After we got back to Galveston (the surgery was at Methodist Hospital over in Texas) we headed out to the church.  We had to check the mail for any last-minute donations postmarked 2015.  Something about IRS rules and closing out the year and preparing contribution statements - all the fun little things that have to happen at the end of the year as our financial secretary is retiring.  Fortunately it looks like God has already put in place some people to move into the jobs Laura was doing.  It’s just a matter of training now.

And speaking of Seaside leaders, once again we may get to play the role of the Church at Antioch.  Jim, who has been a valuable addition to our praise team, is looking for a position in a church leading worship.  He has been an incredible addition to our team, so I hate to lose him.  It’s one of those hard situations where I really want him to be successful and happy, but I just don’t want him to leave Seaside.  It’s what we do, though.  God will keep using him wherever he is, though, so as long as he is with Seaside we will enjoy his contribution.  Otherwise, anybody know a local church that is looking for a worship leader?

1 Peter 4:9 says, “Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.”

Father, thank you for the good news so far on Jennifer’s surgery.  Once again, please walk with them through the long recovery  - and waiting – period.  Bless Jim and Charlotte, too.  Thank you for gifting Seaside with his worship leadership.  Open up just the right opportunities for him to minister for you, wherever that might be.  Amen.
