July 2 – “Home”

We are officially home from camp.  Read here a deep sigh.  It is always a great time to spend with the kids, and is certainly a life-changing experience for many of them.  Next comes the process of developing that small core into a viable youth group.  Kelly, one of our college students home for the summer, as well as Jimmy, our worship leader (also a college student) have volunteered to take the lead in that.  They are working out a plan for a youth Bible study on Wednesday nights after our prayer meeting.  My responsibility this week is to download the music we sang at camp and get it installed on our worship computer.  I’m still praying that God will call someone out to keep it going when Kelly has to return to Baylor.

The week after camp is always a hectic one, fraught with catching up at work and re-establishing routines around the house, especially now with Mom.  Jennifer and Bryan did a bang-up job caring for her while we were gone.  Thanks, you two.  Cailyn is back today.  Nathan is on shift and April works, so we get to be the babysitters again.  That also means that she arrives at 6 a.m.  April took her right in and she snuggled up with Chris, but I don’t think she’ll be content to stay in bed very long.  In fact, here she is now, joining me.  She has a story to tell about a girl mouse.

She went into her Mom’s room.  She got out some lotion.  And she put it all over her body.  And all over her head.  And that’s all.

There you go.  A budding story teller for sure.  That’s my girl.

Psalms 97:12 says, “Rejoice in the Lord, you who are righteous, and praise his holy name.”

Father, thanks for home and family.  Amen.
