We did our three-miler with a side of ten step-climbs yesterday. I guess it’s getting a little easier. I’m still feeling pretty worn out when we finish, but there a sense of accomplishment. And I guess I’m slowly getting into some semblance of shape. OK. So I won’t lobby to skip out on water aerobics this morning …
I
worked a lot yesterday on updating the Seaside directory I have. Kel wanted a copy of it, and mine if full of
penciled-in corrections and additions. I
got it to him, though. Now he wants to
know if there is someone in the church who is good at data entry to get them
all entered into the software program he has going. That he’ll have to ask for on Sunday.
We
got one of those emergency crisis calls from the church retreat center last
night around 7:30 or so. Lauren and
Cathy were up there cleaning up a little and getting a place ready for the new
cabinets to be delivered. But when they
went into the storeroom, what should they discover but … (drum roll here) …
another leak in the ceiling. Right below
the AC unit in there. Apparently it wasn’t
as bad as the one in the kitchen. Well,
it hadn’t been going as long, anyway.
but it was definitely a ceiling tile destroyer. Fortunately, this time our AC guy, Lynn, was
in town. He was able to race over and
see what the trouble was. Sure enough,
it was the exact same issue as before. The
drain tube was clogged up. The drip pan
under the unit was not made big enough to catch the overflow. A true recipe for disaster. Lynn was there completing repairs. He plans to come back next week and install
flow meters and system disrupters and whatever else is needed to just shut the
system down next time this happens. And
he’s putting them on all four units up there.
Chris
and I went on up there to help with clean-up.
We had three vacuum cleaners and a broom going. The brand-new kitchen floor looks amazing, by
the way. Ed and his crew did a
remarkable job. And not long after we
finished that job, Bob arrived from his jaunt to Oklahoma with the new cabinets
in tow. We got them into the storeroom
until Ed can get back in to replace them.
Things seem to be falling into place (instead of out of the ceiling)
now.
Romans
12:21 says, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Father,
thank you for the work Ed did on the kitchen.
And thank you for Bob’s willingness to get us the cabinets from
Oklahoma. Not to mention Lauren and
Cathy’s dedication to get the place clean and ready for the groups coming
in. Amen.
