Well, I thought my song was done
That
I’d told of all the fun
But
we got some not good news
Marlena
has Covid, boos!
PK,
Mama Chris made calls
Texts
and emails out to all
Camp
is not done yet, it seems
Now
we start the quarantines!
Yes,
it’s true. So far two of the kids who
were in our group have tested positive since they got home. Just one from our little band, Marlena. Columbus Avenue Baptist Church, who let us go
to camp with them, sent us their information and protocols, so we got that out
to all of our families. As for me and Chris,
according to the CDC recommendations, if you have been fully vaccinated, you
don’t have to quarantine. At this point
we both have been OK. Nothing more than
the usual post-camp weariness and post-nasal drip from the temperature extremes. The scientific name for it is Camp Crud. It got in the 90’s during the day, and the
regulated temperature in the cabins had to be in the low 60’s. It was really cold in the early mornings. We plan to head on to church this
morning.
But
don’t think I’m complaining about the camp, itself. It was a great experience, and our kids were
well-behaved. They all said they had a really
great time and want to go back. A few of
them will have to move up to youth camp next year, though. Hopefully by then the new pastor will have
some contacts …
Matthew
22:37-39 says, “Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest
commandment. And the second is like it:
Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
Father,
thank you again for a great trip. Please
heal those who picked up the Covid bug.
And do the same for those with the typical Camp Crud. Amen.
