We found out that the water exercise class has started back up over at the city pool near Ball High, so we decided to give it a try. That used to be our go-to platform for exercise back when it was offered at an indoor heated pool. No more indoors or heated, but why not? The only thing … the class starts at 7 a.m. Chris wasn’t all that happy about that little detail. Good thing, though. We were already home by 8:30. And that even included our stop to get our yearly pass renewed. The class itself was about what we expected as far as the exercises. Same ones we were doing back in the day. We both even got a blister on our foot from bouncing and shoving off the pool bottom. Also a familiar phenomenon. Biggest difference was that we were now in the pool with about 30 or 40 of our oldest friends. And by “old” I don’t mean we have known them a long time. Hey. Who else gets up before 7 in the morning but us old folks? Oh, and I was “outed” by the instructor. Seems she is from the West End, and she let the cat out of the bag that “we have a minister in our midst.” So much for the incognito experience. All in all, it was a good class. I’m in. We will be back.
Kel
texted later in the day that his car was ready at the mechanic’s shop. I had his credit card, so I went down to pay
the bill and get the keys. Before I
could leave he called and asked if I could bring them to him at the site of his
second route of the day (a common occurrence. Most of the carriers have to deliver what
amounts to two routes a day because of staffing issues). He was sure he could get a ride from the post
office to the car when he got off work.
Meanwhile,
Chris drove into League City to hang out with the LaMarque youngsters at their
swimming lessons. Kel and Christina were
just having a bad day all around logistically, so we were able to help out a little
bit.
Last
night after home group we found ourselves in the middle of a team meeting for
the big Seaside 25th anniversary celebration. Made some good progress, too. We talked about things like making a new t-shirt
order, having a cake, brisket, and other dinner-on-the-grounds goodies. My job will be to put together a list of
names and addresses of former members to invite, contact former staff members
to invite them to come, and develop a slideshow from the photos we have over
the years. Those three things alone will
be a lot of work. Things are getting
exciting for this little party. If you
are or if you know a former Seaside attender, plan to come on July 25th.
John
14:1 says, “Do not let your hearts be troubles. You believe in God; believe
also in me.”
Father,
thank you for the chance to do the water exercise again. And please, be with our preparations for the anniversary. Amen.
