Well, we woke up to … Recital Day. Never had to go through one of those completely, what with the makeup and hairdo and bows and costumes with tutus. Not a lot like Noa’s karate sparring class or Cailyn’s goats and chickens. Never had to do this girl thing before.
AnnaGrace
was involved in two dances. One was tap
and the other ballet. She was perfect,
of course. In fact, all of the little
sweethearts did a great job. Some of
them even did the same dance moves … at the same time. It was a joy to behold. We loved it.
After
the dance came the presentation of flowers.
That part I remembered from drama in high school. Except back then only the leading lady and the
director got bouquets. But then every
little girl was a leading lady to her family and friends, I suppose. They all had a handful of flowers by the time
we made our way outside for some pictures.
Lots of pictures.
We
were going to have the celebratory lunch at a place called George’s. I was looking forward to that. Great name for a restaurant. But the wait was too long for hungry bellies,
so we switched to Jason’s Deli instead.
You know, the place with the free soft serve ice cream? I had a Super BLT. What made it so super? It had a fried egg and avacados on top. I passed the green healthy stuff on to Chris. But the fried egg? Unexpected blessing for sure.
We
left for home shortly after lunch. Long
trip back so we could reacclimate to the Island.

Corinthians 12:25-27 says, “so that there should be no division in the body,
but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with
it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one
of you is a part of it.”
Father,
thank you for the chance to see those sweet young ladies doing their twirls and
steps and taps and things. Thank you for
granting us a creative spirit … some in different areas than others. Amen.
