Chris is in full-on preparation mode for Cousins Camp 2020. Early arrivals are scheduled to get here from Waco sometime late Thursday, so everything has ramped up a notch. Yesterday we made our pre-camp WalMart run. Well, that would be our first pre-camp WalMart run. I am pretty sure there will be at least one or two more before all is said and done. In fact we have to make a run to either Randall’s or Kroger’s, too. WalMart had no roasts. Nothing suitable for a Sunday lunch crockpot meal. Guess that’s on tap for today or tomorrow. We did take care of the most important purchases for the weekend, though. The snack cabinet is now adequately stocked. Well, at least for a day or two. Ten Vaughan Cousins can snort through the snacks with abandon. Ain’t it great to be a grandparent?
We
went early to WalMart. Good thing. By the time we left, the place was being
overrun by well-masked tourist-types.
Needless to say, we hid inside for the rest of the day. And that meant my engaging in that trifecta
of tantalizing tactics, designed to battle the boredom of the bulging beast
that is … Corona Exile.
1. Working on the sermon
2. Plowing through a jigsaw puzzle
3. Watching the Astros game
Today
holds promise, however. I still have to
wage war against the beast. There is
still much work left to accomplish on the sermon, to be exact. But at some point we will be joined by the
lovely lady of the lane nearby, Princess Cailyn. I suspect some baked goods might be in my
future …

Thessalonians 2:13 says, “When you
received the word of God …, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it
actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.”
Father,
help these youngsters have some fun this weekend. We could use a few good fishing days. Amen.
