June 9 - “Good decision, Kelley”

Good crowd at church again. Several new families. One just moved to Jamaica Beach. Another has a home in Bay Harbor on the same street as Sam’s old house. Another has a weekend home here and lives in “a little town called Kingwood.”  Not so little now. I told her I knew her pastor there (Craig Reynolds, the former Astros shortstop). When we were in college I played pickup basketball games and even went on a double date with Craig and the girl he was dating. I never wanted to introduce him to Chris, though. I was afraid he’d steal her away from me. So, after 50 years I can honestly say … good decision, Kelley.

After church we stuck around and helped serve the food for the Discovering Seaside class. It’s like a new member/just interested combination presentation Kel does every month or so. Two new couples were there this time.

After we got everything cleaned up, we headed back home for the next phase in our summer story. I watched some Astros baseball. Chris washed clothes in preparation for our weeklong jaunt back up to Waco. This time I will be helping Josh run a basketball camp for little guys (4th-6th graders). Not sure how much basketball knowledge will be imparted, but it should be fun. That’s where we are headed this morning. Here we go.

Acts‬ ‭4‬:‭31‬ says, When they had prayed, the place where they were assembled was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak God’s message with boldness.

Father, thanks for the new folks at church. Draw them closer to you. Amen.
