June 6 - “Happy 50th Anniversary, Chris!!”

Yep. It’s been 50 years since we said our “I do’s” and made this relationship fully legal. It was already legit. Chris lasted out the dating period and getting to know me period with a whole lot of patience and grace, believe me. And all that patience and grace proved … um … “helpful” over the last fifty years, for sure.

Three boys. Three daughters-in-law. Ten grandkids. Girlfriends and Boyfriends. Basketball. Soccer. Baseball. Softball. Karate. Dance. They sure put a lot on our plate.

Ministry: Langwood. Parkridge. Woodland. South Oaks. University Hills. Seaside. Columbus Avenue. Galveston Fire Department. Home groups.

Travel: Alaska. Western Caribbean. Panama Canal. Hawaii. National parks all over the U.S.  Astros Spring Training. Rocket launch.

Friends: Winkle’s. Huntley’s. Wilson’s. Too many to mention them all.

Life-changing Events: Caring for Jesse, Oralee, Vern and Sam. Multiple neck and back surgeries. Hurricane Ike. A surprise heart attack. Retirement.

Moves: College housing. Northwest Houston. Spring Branch. Fort Worth. Inner-city Houston. Fort Worth again. Mansfield. Denver. Galveston. Phew!

I guess I might have made my point. We’ve been through a lot together. Emphasis on … “together.”  Let’s keep going, what do you say? I love you, Chris.

‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭16‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ says, Search for the Lord and for His strength; seek His face always. Remember the wonderful works He has done, His wonders, and the judgments He has pronounced.

Father, what can I say? Best gift ever. Thank you. Amen.
