It’s
around 5:30 a.m. right now. My alarm
went off at 5:15 and I have already received a Happy Easter message from a
friend in New York State. All is well
with her. She does not live near the Big
City. We are not having our usual Easter
sunrise service on the beach this year because of social distancing and closed
beaches – ah … life with COVID-19. Chris
and I are heading to the beach to do a Facebook Live broadcast of the sunrise,
though. Not sure who will be awake to
join us.
Yesterday
we were hard at work … no, really. This time
we were actually hard at work. Doing
yard work. I was in the back mowing and
Chris was in the front sweeping when we had a ”Drive –by-drop-off.” A Seaside family, the Hutsons, stopped by to
give us a really pretty flower and a basket with some eggs – filled with
chocolate. Great surprise, guys. Can’t wait to see where in the grand landscape
of things Chris manages to incorporate the plant. And the chocolate? Well, it is, after all, chocolate. I’m pretty sure there will be no problems
ascertaining its final destination. Thanks
again for remembering us.
Mark
16:6 says, “’Don’t be alarmed,’ he said. ‘You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who
was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.’”
Father,
in this time of uncertainty, thank you for the gift of your resurrection and
all it means for us. Amen.
