September 7 – “A part one experience”

We went on part of a date yesterday.  Just the two of us.  Lunch.  No, it wasn’t to McDonald’s.  Wasn’t even Whataburger (although that surely would have counted as a date, wouldn’t it?).  So ... this one was special.  This was the first half of our birthday date … a month late.  This part was a trip to Saltgrass Steak House courtesy of our sons and their families.  Good stuff (the sons, the families, and the food).  Chris had the kind of steak that they wrap bacon around the outside of.  I had a different kind.  Just as good.  No bacon.  But mine came with some fried shrimp, too.  Plus garlic mashed potatoes and a salad.  We had plenty left over for a second meal.

The second half of the date package is yet to come.  Maybe Monday or Tuesday.  That’s when we are looking at taking our ride in one of those spidery half-car, half-motorcycle contraptions.  One of Chris’ bucket list things …

After lunch we continued the overwhelming romance of the day with a stop at … WalMart.  We had a few groceries to pick up.  While we were in line to check out, a lady pushed her cart right up and stepped in front of us.  No “excuse me” or “I’m sorry” or anything.  Just cut in line.  Now, she only had three items, so we didn’t really care, but it was pretty brazen.  Welcome to WalMart, ladies and gentlemen.

Quick update on our friend Mike’s ER visit.  Looks like he will be having bypass surgery, probably on Monday.  Pray for him and his family.

1 Peter 2:16 says, “Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves.”

Father, I once again lift Mike up to you.  This weekend will probably be one of the longest of his life as he can do nothing but wait.  Give him some supernatural patience.  Amen.
