November 8 – “It’s a date”

We had a very special treat yesterday.  It was a lunch date with Nathan and Cailyn.  And we never left the house to enjoy it.  Cailyn texted Chris in the morning to invite us and see what we might want.  That became a fun interchange as we tried to make her choose a place, and she tried just as hard to let it be our choice.  Both sides finally agreed on Salsa’s Mexican food.  And around lunchtime, in they walked with my quesadillas and Chris’s chicken enchiladas and Cailyn’s nachos.  Nathan shared the nachos.  Apparently, he had just had breakfast not too long before.  It was really nice to have them over again.  Next time maybe we’ll get to see April as well.

 

After they left, we took a little field trip.  No, not a road trip … a field trip.  We each had some medicine to pick up at Randall’s.  Mine was one of my ongoing scripts.  Chris had a doctor’s appointment the other day, and she changed her blood pressure meds again.  Still trying to tweak it to get just the right results.  While there we got some bananas and grapes and oranges.  Let’s just say it counted for my daily walking total … and then some.  It could have been much worse.  We could have strolled around WalMart.  Hey … that WalMart field trip is in my sights, too.  Maybe soon …

 

I also watched some college football games.  It’s been a while since I have done that, too.  Let’s see, Texas held off a late drive to win.  Baylor threw an interception in the end zone to end their attempt at a miraculous comeback win.  And Number four Notre Dame tied the game against Number One Clemson and ended up winning in the second overtime.  Lots of fun. 

 

Well, Kel is preaching for me at Seaside again today.  Then he has surgery on his foot on Wednesday.  This is not the kind of tag teaming I envisioned, son.  The plan is for me to be back in the saddle next Sunday.  That will be just in time for us to do our big return to inside worship and celebrate with our regular third Sunday dinner on the grounds.  Here we go …

 

Ephesians 3:16 says, “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.”

 

Father, thank you for our lunch date.  I sure do love those kids of ours.  Amen.
