After a really good breakfast buffet (especially the bacon), we headed to our first tourist thing, the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse & Spaceflight Premier Tour. It basically covered the area now used for launches. Not only by NASA, but also by Blue Origin and
Space X and Relativity Space (they are a 3D printing technology outfit) and several others.
Of course the lighthouse was a highlight. I was with Chris, after all. The Hanger C museum was fascinating. Lots of refurbished missles like the infamous Snark. It never really worked. As a result, there are numerous iterations on the bottom of the ocean. So many that the area is known for its “Snark infested waters.”
After the tour we were joined by our two newest travel companions: Baker the Spider Monkey (first one in space) and Albert the Cat (yes, I allowed a cat in the car. He was a rescue from an overseas vessel that sank. Albert swam to shore and was adopted by the lighthouse keeper’s family. Resilient little bugger).
And finally we headed south to our Spring Training headquarters. I watched some of the University of Houston basketball game on my phone on the way. It was out of hand early. I finally gave up and fell asleep with Houston ahead by 30.
We made it to the hotel around 4:30. It’s a biggun’. Actually, it’s a whole conference center with a full-blown hotsy-totsy restaurant inside. I’m sure the prices will be hotsy-totsy as well. I kind of miss the free waffles shaped like Texas.
The first game is at one today in Jupiter. Talk about an “away game.” Go Astros.
Hebrews 13:16 says, Don’t neglect to do what is good and to share, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.
Father, thanks for giving us safe travels. Gotta admit I’m kinda excited. Amen.
