March 16 - “Fishin’ and Findin’”

We went fishing. Yep. Took all the available grandkids (we missed you, Cailyn), moms and dads, and even a few girlfriends, to boot. Went out to the park in Jamaica Beach. It was an OK day. Very foggy at the outset. But lines made their way into the water, and a good time was had by all.

Ezra pulled in the first fish.  A big ol’, incredibly ugly dogfish. As things progressed, Josiah started hitting the jackpot. He pulled in a few croakers and even a redfish. Zak came through with a flounder that he intends to blacken when he gets home. There were other landings, but I don’t remember who had what. Luke and AnnaGrace added to their experience by successfully flying a kite. Nice job all round.

After some lunch (pizza!), we split up the crowd. One mass went back out to Jamaica Beach to play football on the beach. The other group (that would include me … and Chris) went to the big book sale at the Rosenberg Library. On a whim, I set out looking for something I have been in search of for years. And lo and behold, I actually found it. Oh. Did I not mention what “it” was? The original two album record of Jesus Christ Superstar. The lyrics book was not there, but for ten bucks, I was willing to grab it.

I used to have it from way back right after I became a Christian, but Hurricane Ike destroyed it, along with my old record player. Well, record players have made a comeback, and I have had one (courtesy of a Christmas present) for some time now. Can’t wait to spend time reminiscing.

‭‭Luke‬ ‭6‬:‭36‬ says, Be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.

Father, thank you for that moment of discovery. It really did help change my life back then. Amen.
