We woke up in Midway, Florida, to a blistering 44 degrees outside. Ridiculous. And do you want to know what was worse? The afternoon high was projected to be 80. Now that’s just plain crazy.
We stopped in St Augustine for lunch and to kill some time, since we couldn’t check in the hotel until after three. We found a place called the Metro Diner. Local joint. I had fish and chips and key lime pie. Chris had a chicken salad croissant and fruit cup. Pretty good stuff.
As we headed back down the road toward the Holiday Inn, we saw an interesting sight. A police car was stopped on the side of the road with its lights flashing. When we approached we saw the one who had been stopped. The officer had pulled over an obviously dangerous criminal. It’s just that … he had no legs. And he was driving a motorized wheelchair. No doubt souped up …
We passed another Buc-ees. This one was right off of I95 in Central Florida. Didn’t stop, though. Wrong side of the freeway. Sigh. I guess that little beaver is no longer just an iconic Texan.
Our next stop for the night was a Holiday Inn in Titusville. It was the only one available. Guess lots of people wanted to watch the astronauts come home. We were a little early, so we filled up with gas at a Murphy. Yep. That would be the one in front of a Walmart. And yep. We went inside. And … yes, Traci! I got some bananas.
Revelation 3:20 says, Listen! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and have dinner with him, and he with Me.
Father, be with us on our first real excursion today. We enter the world of space. Amen.
