There was no messing around yesterday. The rain fell most of the day. Fortunately, temps stayed in the mid-50’s.
So all of that to say this. We stayed inside and worked. Chris was determined to finish that closet of hers. Being the amazing husband that I am, I apprenticed myself to fulfill her every whim. And believe me, there were a lot of whims. But I didn’t mind. The closet looks better than it has in years.
The bonus of it all was re-discovering all sorts of photos and memorabilia from our early days and years together. Oh, and apart. We uncovered my elementary school photo directory and a pennant from my junior high days - “Go, Weis Owls!” Chris found her Dad’s high school diploma.
I guess I should mention that all of this started because we were looking for my college and seminary diplomas and my ordination papers. Chris found those fairly early on, but once we started it was almost impossible to stop. And we are not done yet. The closet looks great, but now there are picture frames and boxes and paraphernalia of all kinds strewn about the beds in all three bedrooms. But we’re close. So close.
1 Corinthians 15:58 says, Therefore, my dear brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Father, thank you for our walk down memory lane. Great way to get started in the new year. Amen.
