July 9 – “Gettin’ difficult”

All this rain has really put a damper on other opportunities around here.  (See what I did there?  Rain?  Damper?).  We did manage to get in two mile walk yesterday, though.  it was kind of fun dodging raindrops here and there.  Not a pastime I particularly crave engaging in, however.

Back at the house it was back to the computer and more efforts at culling photos for the anniversary slide show.  I also touched base with Lauren.  She has a lot more in her possession that she will be bringing over to add to the list.  As it turned out, we made a tentative decision.  Along with the slide show, we will get several photo albums and print up three or four hundred to fill them up.  That way people who don’t want to watch the screen can thumb through a book … old school.

Check out this passage from a devotional book I read the other day …

“Thank God that he does give us difficult things to do!  His salvation is a joyous thing, but it is also something that requires bravery, courage, and holiness.  It tests us for all we are worth … God’s grace produces men and women with a strong family likeness to Jesus Christ, not pampered, spoiled weaklings.  It takes a tremendous amount of discipline to live the worthy and excellent life of a disciple of Jesus in the realities of life.  And it is always necessary for us to make an effort to live a life of worth and excellence.”

Isaiah 41:13 says, “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”

Father, thank you for trusting us enough to call us into your family.  Amen.
