May 3 – “Booger Village”

Loved one of the editorials in the paper on Saturday.  All about how doing jigsaw puzzles affects the guys aching back and squinty eyes.  Talk about relating to a printed piece.  You got me on that one, Leonard.

Yesterday was yard work day.  Mow the grass.  Edge it.  Usual stuff.  Oh, except I got to trim that evil demon devil bush that makes three-inch-long spikes.  Even has an evil sounding name: Booger Village.  Well, maybe that should be Bougainvillea (Had to look up the spelling on that one.  Wouldn’t you?).  But Chris says, in that simple, sweet way of hers, “It’s pretty.”  So … old Booger Village stays.

We had a phone call from Waco yesterday.  Sounds like all’s still well up there.  We’ll have to plan a quick trip up there now that most of Texas has come to Galveston to go to the beach.  Yep.  The governor opened all the beaches in the state, and the one here was beyond packed.  We have a new task added for our Seaside Outside opening service this morning.  Block off the entrance so beach-goers won’t use the parking lot we need for services.  That means Sunday starts at around seven this week.  And it’s already a little after six.

The plan is for me to take the truck and meet some folks up there to make sure the entrance from FM 3005 is blocked off.  I think it may already be done, though.  Between Robert and Lauren things like that seem to have a way of getting done.  We already have our new temporary signs up telling folks that all the lots are for church use on Sunday mornings.  Hope that works.  Now we have to set up tables for the offering boxes and song lyrics and get the chairs down from the retreat center and make sure the bathroom is clean and get the porch set up for the praise team and make sure the sound works for Seaside Online and … welcome to Sunday morning!

Joel 2:12 says, “’Even now,’ declares the Lord, ‘return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.’”

Father, we commit this Seaside Outside experience to you.  I know you will be with us.  Help us with the execution.  Amen.
