June 4 – “The word balloon is empty …”

We started the day with a walk again.  Both of our appointments were late enough that we had time to squeeze it in.  Ah, appointments …

Chris got a call to duty this week … jury duty.  She didn’t have to show up until 11:15 though.  Seemed a little late for getting jurors for 1:30 court times.  She said the parking lot was overflowing into the street, and the gathering room was absolutely packed.  They were choosing the jury pool for 16 different courts.  She didn’t get picked.  They told her to text the number on her jury card each night to see if she had to come in the next day.  She did that last night.  It returned her text with a request for a second number on her card, I guess to verify her true secret identity.  The text the sent back after that was kind of odd.  The word balloon on the screen identified that it came from the court.  That was all.  No command to return.  No release from duty.  No other words at all.  By the definition provided on her card, that is apparently what they meant by “if needed, you will be instructed when to report.”  So she is off today.  That’s helpful.  We have Cailyn today and school is out.

My appointment wasn’t nearly as exciting.  I had to go to the hearing aid place for my regular three-month check-up and cleaning.  Even got my ears scraped out this time.  Gotta hate that excess wax build-up.  It is fun to watch all the action on the big screen, though.  I also ran over to Randall’s to pick up some stamps so I could get all of the birthday and anniversary cards mailed.  Lots of people born and wed in the summer months.

We continued the errand running in the afternoon after Chris got home.  I was ready to get out of the house again after working at the computer all morning.  We made a return trip to Randall’s as well as a stop at Academy.  We had a big $20 coupon from there that was burning a hole in our pocket.  Chris ended up with a few pairs of shorts to walk in, I got some fishing hooks, and we picked up a replacement grill cover.  Ours was literally falling apart.  Good day at the shops.

Later on last night we stopped by Nathan and April’s to view their latest DIY projects.  Pretty impressive.  They built shutters and a column for their front porch.  Really changed the looks.  April also scored an incredible deal on what was described by the store clerk as an “off-season pergola.”  It looks really great in their back yard.  We also took Cailyn her Bible for camp.  The church gave each kid going a brand new Bible.  Can’t get too much of that Word of God, right?

1 John 2:1-2 says, “My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father – Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.  He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.”

Father, thank you for your Word and for the generosity of Seaside to get it into the hands of everyone who needs it.  Amen.
