So
Monday’s touch of Spring turned into Tuesday’s funny Winter joke. Temperatures were in the low 40’s with windchills
in the low 30’s. That meant the wind was
so strong that garbage can lids were being opened and in some cases cans
themselves were upended all over the neighborhood. The three huge boxes that our patio chairs
came in were strewn all over the place. One
was up at our garage door, no doubt trying to get inside to escape the
cold. Another was in the middle of our
next door neighbor’s yard. The third was
… gone. Nowhere in sight. Just gone.
I
spent the morning working on sermons and Bible studies. Our physical break came in the afternoon when
we went over to Walmart to get some much-needed groceries. Aside from the accomplishment of
re-populating our pantry, we got to see a few Seasiders who were out doing some
grocery gathering of their own. Always a
pleasure to run into folks we know amidst the hordes of picturesque WalMart consumers.
This
morning our goal is to connect with the LaMarque Vaughans. That means a trip into Texas, of course. The plan is to go to NASA for the kids to roam
around in their visitor center. I think
a picnic is involved as well. Doesn’t give
me much time to work. Guess I should finish up what preparations I can for the SOUPer
Bowl party here at the house Sunday night …
Psalms
138:2-3 says, “I will bow down toward
your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness,
for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. When I called, you answered me; you made me
bold and stouthearted.”
Father,
thank you again for that little Spring teaser.
Makes us long for the real thing, and we do like anticipation. Amen.
