April 23 - “Nope. Not books”

We ambled back into our two miles again. It was a little hard for me to get moving. Tightness in my back and a bit of soreness in my hip hampered me some, but I bulled my way through. We even bettered our usual time.

Back home, Chris got started on laundry. I started working on the 2,000 piece puzzle that’s been on our table for a while. It’s coming along. I try to get one piece placed a day. Sometimes it’s a lot more. Sam and Chris pitch in, too, as does anyone who comes over to visit. We’ll get it done sooner or later.

In the afternoon, Chris and I headed out to run some errands. We had a bit of a list. First stop was the vet to get some flea meds for Freddy.

From there we saw a sign indicating that our local Office Depot was closing down. We had to stop in and check it out. I don’t think they are in a great hurry to close out just yet. Best deals were just 30%. Most were 5 to 10%. We’ll wait.

From there we stopped at Randall’s for a prescription and some dog food. Oh. And we got some gas, too.

Finally, we made our obligatory Walmart stop. We just needed milk and eggs and a few children’s books for gifts. That’s where we ran into some difficulty. The books. After checking us out, the guy waiting on us commented that the same books were usually cheaper online. As we walked to the car, Chris checked the Walmart app. Sure enough, the prices were almost half. So we went right back in and to the customer service desk. Only to find out that … are you ready for this? … corporate policy forbids stores to allow returns on books. Even if the book has never left the store. Chris took our case all the way to the store manager, but his hands were tied. Check your online prices early, folks.

‭‭Acts‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬ ‭ says, And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

‭‭

Father, thanks for you for the live of books we have, even when we have to pay twice what we should have. Amen.
