I started the day off yesterday up with the chickens. No, I mean literally “up with the chickens.” Nathan and April were staying in in Baytown for a softball tournament Cailyn was playing in. We were responsible for minding the farm while they were gone. Actually, that just means letting the dogs outside and feeding them, then making sure the chickens hadn’t knocked over their water container. Oh, and we did get to raid any eggs we found. And we did. Three. Can’t wait to taste them. I wonder if they taste any different than the ones WalMart lays …
We
had quite a few extra visitors at church yesterday. Unwanted visitors. The mosquitoes were swarming everywhere. Fortunately, a new staple of our outdoor
worship existence is mosquito spray. We have
on hand several cans of the stuff you spray in the grass. We also have a can of the kind you spray on
your body available. It serves the
purpose, but I’ll be happy when the “available” Sunday morning extras are
donuts and coffee again.
Yesterday
afternoon we went to a softball game here in town. One of the kiddos from Seaside was
playing. As it turned out we saw several
Seasiders who had come out to cheer Emmy on.
I missed my usual opportunity to crash on Sunday afternoon, but hey … the
chance to watch a baseball/softball game pretty much in my own back yard was
worth it.
We
got word last night that Nathan and family made it back home to the farm. Sounds like they were all pretty exhausted. Oh, and Nathan sent us a video of a hit Cailyn
had. Resounding double down the third
base line. Knocked in a run as well. That’s my girl.
1
Chronicles 16:11 says, “Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face
always.”
Father,
thank you for the chance to get outside for a while yesterday and watch some
softball. Take care of those youngsters
as they learn the game and maybe a little about life as well. Amen.
