We had a bit of a scare yesterday. Mom took a tumble in the kitchen and landed right on top of her walker. We are not sure exactly what happened but she was able to stand back up with our assistance. Looks like the worst part of it was a banged up knee and a scrape on her elbow. She'll definitely be sore today. Hopefully that won't be too much of a problem in getting her up and moving for a 9:00 dentist's appointment. She usually doesn't get going at all until around 10:00.
Jachin's baseball team had a really good game the other night. They only lost by one run, 7-6. Several of the never-played-before's actually made contact for the first time. A few fell foul, but one little guy actually got a hit. Of course he then strolled off the base like he was taking a walk in the park and got tagged out. I told the umpire that was the first time he had ever hit the ball, so he didn't know what to do once he got there. The ump said he wished he had known that ahead of time. He would have let him stay with a warning. Gotta love kids' baseball. Another of the kids who can really hit well struck out three straight times. I was talking to him after the second one. He told me he was very nervous because his father was in the stands. Apparently the father is not around much, so the nervousness made a lot of sense. Added to that, the father was also quite vocal with his advice. Lots of pressure. I tried to calm the kid down, but he still struck out the third time. It's amazing what kinds of ministry opens up even at Little League games.
Nathan and April dropped Cailyn off for a while the other day so they could make a trip to the store. They were going to pick up some things for her that they wanted to be a surprise. They were then coming back to get her and return to the store so she could be a part of the shopping extravaganza, I guess. That's how we got her to be OK with them leaving the first time. We told her she needed to make a shopping list. There were only two things on that list. The first was, in her words: "I need some little bitty pumpkin … awwww." Now, I wanted to make sure I got it right, so I asked her to repeat it. And sure enough, she again said, "I need some little bitty pumpkin … awwww." I'm not sure what part of WalMart will have the "pumpkin … awwww." Hope they can find it. The second item on her list was also a good one. "I need some three dollars money." Of course. If you're going to the store you need some money. I just didn't know that it was at the store that you bought the money. Again, good luck with that one, Nathan and April.
1 Peter 3:7 says, "Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers."
Father, watch over my wife. She does an amazing job caring for my Mom. Amen.
