October 15 - “PDA?”

We redefined “early” yesterday. The alarm went off at 4:15. Actually woke me up. Not so much Chris. But turning the light on took care of that.

We got to the hospital a little after 6. I felt like some kind of VIP. The waiting room was already kind of full, but the receptionist called me by name before I ever said anything, and she called me up to check in ahead of everyone else, and she personally took me back into the Cath lab holding tank.  Guess my doc has more clout than their docs.

Our pastor and his wife came to pray with us and hang out with Chris. So did our oldest son and daughter-in-law did. OK, OK. They are the same people.

It was good to see our friend Melissa was working. She was in the youth group at Seaside for years. And then our good friend of 20 or so years, Teri came in to check on me as well. It’s great to know people who kind of like you.

In a nutshell, I didn’t need a stent. Yet. There was moderate blockage in the LAD. And there was a tad more blockage in the PDA. Hmm. So Public Display of Affection really is a form of heart disease? I asked the cardiologist that question. He totally lost it. Laughed so hard he couldn’t answer for a while. Glad I could make his day.

OK. That’s not what it stands for. It’s just a nickname for the posterior descending artery. Kind of a weird one to have issues in, apparently. But come on. Weird? Well … when have I ever not been a little weird?

We decided to celebrate with a stop for lunch at Whataburger. And to top off the good news? Yep. I had them add bacon. Woohoo!

Back at home we had another issue awaiting. During their prep phase, the painters uncovered several more instances of rotten wood. Also, the contractor suggested we put a port-o-potty on our front porch. I countered with in the living room. Chris wasn’t real happy with either option (John was kidding, by the way).  The carpenters will join the painters to continue operations today (sounds like a couple of singing groups).

‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬ says, For in it God’s righteousness is revealed from faith to faith, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith.

Father, thanks for being with the docs yesterday. They done good. Amen.
