We snuck in a walk yesterday. Why snuck in? Because our new fridge was scheduled to be delivered. To be honest, though, neither of us were particularly hopeful that it was actually on a truck (been there, done that) or that if it indeed was actually on a truck, that it wasn’t irreparably damaged (been there, done that, too).
So imagine our surprise - and elation - when the truck arrived and an actual refrigerator made its appearance from inside. I was still a little leery, though. Twice before we had reached this stage of the process, and twice before we had been summarily and completely disappointed.
Slowly the packaging began to come off. The delivery guy seemed quite sure that all was well. He measured out the space inside and the clearance at the door. He unhooked the old fridge and the two of them hauled it out in their nifty shoulder strap dolly contraption.
And finally the new one made its way inside. Hookup went without a hitch. It slid perfectly into the space allotted. The lights came on inside. The pump for the water dispenser in the door worked upon testing. We won’t know about the ice maker for a day or two though. Gotta clear out all the nastiness from the hoses. Chris is gonna wait until later today to actually fill ‘er up, but our cautious optimism has graduated into straight-up optimism.
We have a learning curve ahead of us. There are three air filters inside, plus the water filter. Gotta read up on them. It’s not exactly black - more of a slate - but at this point … who cares.
Romans 8:1 says, Therefore, no condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus
Father, thank you. For the fridge, for sure, but also for that “no condemnation” thing. Amen.
