We woke up to a really cold wind blowing outside. No rain accompanied it, but we definitely had a norther blow in.
We
left the house for most of the day. Good thing, too. We received a notice
yesterday that our water would be shut off from 8 a.m to 6 p.m. Only thing was,
we left at 11:30 and still had water. That didn’t bode well for late in the
day.
The
funeral went well. Boyd was a great guy, and he had a huge family. Lots of
grandkids and even great-grandkids. Several of the family members had things to
share, so the time was really personal. As always, I enjoyed working with the
staff at Hayes Funeral Home. Good folks.
We
went by Nathan’s house after the graveside service. Chris had a rather urgent
need for a bathroom break. They weren’t there at first, but they did arrive
shortly after we tripped the camera connected to their back door. We hung
around and chatted for a while, but they wanted to get their grass mowed and
start decorating. Something about Christmas … ?
Back
in Galveston we stopped by Randall’s to see if Chris’s prescription was ready.
Nope. That’s kind of a big deal. She was supposed to take it on Monday, so it’s
already late. She’s gonna call the doc again tomorrow.
From
there we went to Walmart … woohoo! We just needed some fruit but walked
out with some Christmas lights for Nathan and April and a few other odds and
ends. Not that Nathan and April are odds and ends …
Back
home at around 5, but no water. A little before 7 I walked down to where they
were still working. I told the guy I was just a little kid who wanted to watch
the big machinery at work. He laughed and said that’s why he was working where
he was. He also told me they should have the water on in about 45 minutes. Hey.
Gathering info is all in how you ask. Finally, by around 8 p. m., we were once
again hydrated. Whew!
Psalms 130:5 says, “I wait for the Lord, my
whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.”
Father,
again, please walk with Jane and the rest of the Chipman family through the
next couple of days and weeks. Amen.
