The day has come. It is time to head into the rising sun. No, not Japan. Just places off to the grand East … of us. “Where, in particular?” you might ask? Alas, I have no set answer for you. Instead we await the adventure with bated breath and beating heart. East. Just East. I will update here as wifi becomes available. Do they have wifi in the East? And you might want to peek in on my Facebook feed for more timely updates. I haven’t figured out the Twitter thing. In fact, adding more social media stuff will be way too confusing for me. I think I’ll hang around with the other boomers on Facebook.
We
had an interesting, intimate group at church yesterday. I think I counted 37 brave souls. One new couple was visiting from “the hills
of Tennessee,” in his words. He kind of
looked like a mountain man, too. That’s
a complement, I might hasten to add. It
was our first service without several of our RVer regulars, but I saw afterwards
that they were watching online. I guess
that whole media presence thing is with us to stay. It is fun to check the feed after church and
see who tuned in. Great way to keep in
touch.
We
spent the afternoon watching the Astros lose a close one. Then Chris began packing in earnest. I could tell she was in the groove when she
asked, “Are you wearing anything you want me to wash before we leave?” Yep.
She’s ready to go.
We
went to Randall’s to pick up the last of her prescriptions that she will need
while we are gone, the injection one.
Problem. They said it was on
order and wouldn’t arrive until today after one. Uh oh.
Chris explained the situation again, and the pharmacist said she could
have it transferred to a pharmacy somewhere else that might have it. At first we thought she meant somewhere down
the road on our trip. That would be difficult,
since we didn’t know for sure where we would be when. But she finally clarified that she meant
somewhere in town … right now. We agreed
that would be a great idea. She said she
would call if she found a place. And
sure enough, in just a few minutes, she told us to head to Kroger’s
Pharmacy.
Once
we arrived there, we connected with the pharmacist assistant, who told us the
info had just arrived from Randall’s, and it would take 30 minutes to get it
ready. Great. So do we go home, or hang out in
Kroger’s? I suggested we use the
opportunity to get some steps in, so we started a walk around the store. First lap was around the outside. Then we cut into lane one and back
around. Then lane two and around. After about 20 minutes we still had about
half the store to go. It’s a big store. But we decided to check in. Good thing.
They told us that the insurance company was requiring prior approval
from the doctor before they would pay for it.
They then started trying to get a price using a discount card. I suggested calling Randall’s back. After all, they were going to fill it. They just didn’t have it in stock yet. Finally the Kroger pharmacist got involved,
and when she figured out what was going on, she suggested calling Randall’s. Great idea.
Sure enough, Randall’s already had all the approvals. We had the prescription in mere minutes. Last hurdle cleared, and we are ready for
take-off (Hmm. From the track field
to the space arena. I guess that
is kind of mixing metaphors there, isnt it?).

Timothy 2:5 says, “For there is one God and one mediator between God and
mankind, the man Christ Jesus.”
Father,
we ask that you join us on this journey.
Grant us safety and fun and rest.
Amen.
