I got up kind of early this morning and did some more work on the sermon for Sunday. We had to leave earlier today because we were assigned the task of taking Jachin to his sports camp. They had three segments: basketball, baseball, and football. The coach was a guy I went to high school with. He recognized me right away and told the kids I played baseball with him when we were kids. Later on he told them I played quarterback in school, too. He sure made me sound good. I did play quarterback. In junior high. Third string. Out of three. The only pass I ever threw was intercepted and run back for a touchdown. But he didn't tell them that. He just said, "And now he's a preacher." And he said it like that was better than baseball or football. I like this guy. When we got over to the house, Chris did some more cleaning of cabinets. I did some reading and some more work on the sermon. Then I fell asleep in the rocking chair. One of our contractor's guys came and installed the icemaker. It is now making ice. Finally doing what it was created to do. Chris called the tub guy to see when he could come clean ours out and maybe refinish it. He said, "How about twenty minutes?" So, the tub guy came and did an amazing cleaning job on our cast iron bathtub that survived the storm. He didn't put a new finish on it, though. He said to try it this way so there would be some texture in it, and it wouldn't be as slippery for Mom. It just means we have to clean it more often. Our contractor got there. He did a walk-through with us about the electrical and flooring. They are coming tomorrow to do their walk through, so he wanted to be ready for them. When we left the painters were there. They were staining the rest of the side door and doing touch up on the walls. They will hang the interior doors and finish touchups tomorrow. Tomorrow. One of our neighbors asked when we were moving in. I said I hoped to know before our contractor left. And our contractor said, "If you can stand the smell of paint and don't mind stepping over workers for a few more days, there is no reason why you shouldn't move in tomorrow." Tomorrow. It still hasn't sunk in. We were invited to supper with the group from Lawn, Texas, that was staying at Seaside. They have completed the electrical work on the school building, they did as much sheetrocking as they could before the inspector comes. The inspector is coming Saturday. The food was outstanding – chicken fried steak, chicken fried chicken strips, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, cream gravy, corn, green beans, crunchy coleslaw (interesting flavor – sweet), and banana pudding. Very healthy. Right. Not long after the meal Chris came up to me and said she didn't feel well and we needed to go. Before we could get Mom to the car, Chris had thrown up four times. Did that make your day? Perhaps a little too much information. We did make it home with no incidents in the car, and she went right to bed. I think maybe the excitement of moving back home coupled with just a little taste of grease in the food may have done her in. Matthew 6:33-34 says, "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Father, I am excited about tomorrow. That's different from worry, isn't it? Amen. |
