July 19 – “I’m a nut … eight”

Mitch missed relays yesterday
His exercise was just delayed

Load the trailer was his chore

Mitch stuffed, Marcus closed the door

Breakfast came on our last day

Last goodbyes all had to say

Flashes, clicks, camera frenzy

Last camp day is at an end-zy

What a picture of the church

Came when Cheyenne's stomach hurt

Santa Rosa hospital

Checked to make sure she got well

Trio friends said, "If we may,"

"We're coming.  We're Car Liss Chey"

Meanwhile Seaside went to pray

Lubbock said come here to stay

Hit McDonald's, then the road

Then the hail just dumped a load

"God's throwing snowballs," was Mike's take

But God stopped soon for our sake

As we neared to Lubbock town

Lightning, thunder, clouds abound

Circled up, on top, beneath

We arrived by the skin of our teeth

One last night of sleep away

Now to G-town our course lay

This was one adventure true

And we, like Jesus, sure love you.

Father, your awesomeness is beautiful and terrifying at the same time.  Amen.

July 18 – “I’m a nut … seven”

At Centrifuge the last full day

Can only mean Mega Relay

Took some pictures, set my jaw

Here is some of what I saw

Jimmy kept track for his whole team

Kris got dizzy, so it seemed

Miranda got pudding in the face

Houston and Cory helped adults race

Lora showed up in her limo

For Sydney, barefoot's the way to go

Anne with camera roamed around

Kelly celebrated from the ground

Wardrobe stains concerned Terrie

That yellow shirt is Melissa D.

Allie had hand prints on her face

Erin's smile lit up the place

Melissa F. ran mad team dash

Demi's coke made quite a splash

Jennifer dove to the ground

Mitch was nowhere to be found

Ashley through the tunnel came

Chloe fed the baby game

Alexa joined her team's cheer loud

Cheyenne's headband wowed the crowd

Carly and Elyssa painted up

Josh, he worked off his last sup – (per)

Demetrius joined in with a thrill

Us old guys watched from the hill

Church group time had great intent

As we shared encouragement

Robyn joined us and we prayed

Mike said, "In God's armor stay."

Melissa D. will missions do

Plans to head down to Peru

Demetrius' interest is ministry

He'll start with his family

Father, thanks again for showing your power in your sweet presence.  Amen.

July 17 – “I’m a nut … six”

Our sister church from Bolivar

Needed help and we weren't far

Hospital called away their men

Cory and Houston moved on in

Waffle Day, It's Waffle Day

Waffle, Waffle, Waffle-Waffle, Waffle

Butter, hot syrup, fork, and plate

Waffle-Waffle, Waffle-Waffle, Waffle-Waffle, Waffle-Waffle

Mitch has tried the whole week long

He's been thwarted, oh that's wrong

But today on his new start

Had lunch with the joy of his heart, Joy Hart  (Hey, Mitch! Eph. 3:13; Ps 28:7)

Ashley's Bible was brand new

Now angel messages it sports, too

PK dozed in Bible class

Anna's back, hey, that was fast

Father, we're getting tired this afternoon, but we still have mega relays tonight.  Give us strength.  Amen.

July 16 – “I’m a Nut … Five”

Supper saw the big comeback

Of the jelly bean attack

Alexa chewed up all Mike doled

But Terri spit hers in her bowl

There was no sermon tonight

Holy Spirit just took flight

Kris and Terri, Melissa D.

Demi, Miranda, and Sydney

Jennifer and Allie, too

All were touched by God to move

Ashley, too, our God did hear

She'll be a counselor next year

Today's camp video was fun

Lots of Seaside on this one

Melissa D. and Fry as well

KellyKrisElissaChloeMirandaCarlyDemetrius – oh, swell

Marcus' call to put God first

Turned down b-ball, and that hurt

Caviar, sushi, wasabi

Chloe washes down with fried seaweed.

Father, wow.  The last two nights were amazing.  I especially appreciated you leading the preacher to not preach.  It was obvious you were already working, so he got out of your way.  Help me do that, too.  Amen.

July 15 – “I’m a nut … four”

OK. I am trying to get in a few minutes at free time to type this each day, so the timing might seem a little off here and there. Understand that I'm just continuing on from where I left off each time.

This was God's night for our guys

We were left with few dry eyes

Alexa

Demetrius

Elyssa

Erin

Carly

Cheyenne

Others saw what they held dear

What they must give God was clear

We hugged more and cried, you bet

We're sure God just ain't through yet

As we left to head on out

The moth we spied was huge, no doubt

Melissa D. opened a window then

Cory hid, said "Tell me when"

Rita slapped at it with grace

'Til it kissed her in the face

PK caught it, Chloe photoed

Then out the window the moth goed

Melissa Fry, the tree huggers' dear

Recycled Wesley from last year

Josh spends his time hiking here

But lost his Bible again, I fear

Mitch's face was on the screen

For two seconds, that was mean

His dear Mom took from the box

Brand new "Micro Tinies" socks

Mitchell had a debt he owed

But for those socks? Jimmy said "No"

Miranda, was that guy full of bliss

When he gave you that little – (Hmm. What rhymes with "bliss"?)

Kris did backflips for a spell

Jennifer cartwheeled, and she fell

Melissa D. loves Carter Rap a lot

Will Mike make Cory sleep or not?

Father, thank you for Cheyenne's health. And Lora is better today, too. Praise you for drawing each of these kids to yourself in just the way they need to come. Amen.

July 14 – “I’m a nut … three”

We met old friends, teary eyed
Some things were a big surprise
Allen’s from peninsula lands
Now Cody and Amy are holding hands.

Terri shared her country notes

Of horses, panther, snakes and goats

Kristan added, then she brings,

Unmentionable gross things

When they pointed out our group

Houston's dance was our group's woop

He showed off for his date Gert

The one in the pink and goopy shirt

Cheyenne puked down to her toes

Carly made the video

Lora's feeling quite amiss

So Rita called up Mama Chris

Mike he feared abandonment

As away Kewie Boeyew went

Sydney learned the bridge to take

Demi and BeeBee? For goodness sake!

Father, now Cheyenne is sick. Please protect us. Amen.

July 13 – “I’m a nut …2”

Some challenge to the camp dress code
Forced us the trailer to unload
Shorts and shirts were scrambled for
But Jen’s trunk was nowhere near the door

Breakfast waits we need some gas
Wait, Jim, McDonald’s you just passed
I think PK needs a hug
He talked to Barry – a little bug

We all like to sing the song
So Chloe’s birthday lasted long
At McDonald’s, rest stops, too
We sang happy birthday to you

Back again on our way out
Mike’s Tomtom drew a crazy route
Through the campus of Texas Tech
Circled back and resumed our trek

Allie got desperate in Muleshoe
Used the men’s restroom – Kelly, too
Must be dreaming – what’s that sound?
Beep-Boop junior we have found

Oh, the sadness, alas, alak
A fly-by train rolled on the track (haunnk)
Memorial service at the door
For border Beep Boop is no more

We drove through the camp front gate
Hose and buckets were our fate
Got moved in with little wear
Girls are close, but guys have air

Father, take over. Heal the physically sick ones like Lora. Touch the spiritually sick ones, too. Amen.
