I
know. I know. I’m a day behind. But I have a houseful of short guests. Give me a break.
First
order of business – fishing. For that
one we headed to the Jamaica Beach Skinny Park (My name, not theirs. It’s a
skinny strip of land bordering one of the main canals that they have designated
as a park). We were not very
successful in the “eating what you catch” scheme of things, but everybody did
catch something. And good ol’ Uncle
Nathan said to be sure and keep the small stuff. Why? He
would take them shark fishing the next day.
Boy, do we ever have some good cut bait.
We
soon ran out of bait, so we headed home.
We got cleaned up and crashed for the afternoon to allow Noa (and some rumors have it DadDad as well)
to get a quick nap. And what did that
mean for the others? Media time. Somewhere in there we saw a fishing show on
Netflix. Chasing Monsters. The host was searching for barracudas first,
and then sharks. Just what we needed to
see before heading out to play in the Gulf of Mexico. Truly inspirational.
Nani
fixed up some tacos for supper. Aunt
Christina arrived to act as the transportation arm for the evening. And her task?
A trip to the beach after supper.
This one was just for fun in the waves.
Many waves. Goofy old DadDad
brought his fishing stuff, but those waves proved all-too daunting. He was pummeled into submission. Maybe in the morning when we search for
sharks.
Everyone
was pretty worn out when it came time to crash for the night. It was boys’ movie night choice, and you will
never believe what they selected. Princess
Diaries (Yep. You read that right). Gotta love these Vaughan boys. They are going to make some woman very happy
one day. After the movie DadDad switched
the channel over to the Astros. That
worked like a charm as a sleeping pill.
Well, except for Jachin. He and
DadDad were locked into the pitcher’s duel.
Jachin finally gave up around the seventh inning, but the Astros
prevailed, 2-1.
Psalms
89:13 says, “Your arm is endued with
power; your hand is strong, your right hand exalted.”
Father,
thank you for your protection out in those waves. Not fun for fishing, but riding those boogie
boards looked quite appealing. Amen.
