June 3 – “Read … Take pictures … Graduate”

I finished the Harry Potter book I was reading.  Episode number five about the Order or the Phoenix.  Masterfully written.  Yes, I have read them all before.  Not ten or twelve times like Chris, though.  They are in her regular literature reading rotation, along with Chronicles of Narnia.  She throws others in there as well.  The thing is, she won’t let me watch the movie until I’ve read the book.  That would be any movie that has been made from a book.  I just wanted to watch the Harry Potter movie series again.  That means re-reading all the books again.  She’s right about one thing, though.  The books are invariably better than the movies.  Read.  Read to your kids and grandkids.  It’s a great excuse to get the old Dr. Seuss books out.  Encourage them to read.  Reading is awesome.  Movies are good, too, but I’ll save that for another commercial …

Spent another hour or so total working on those 1,075 digital photos we’ve been wading through trying to cull to a more reasonable number.  We finally have them organized by each day we spent at different parts of DisneyWorld.  Now we make another swoop through and do more deleting of duplicates before Chris faces the really hard decisions of just cutting some cuteness.  Hard days ahead …

Last night we drove way into Texas for a graduation party.  One of the youngsters who was born while Mom and Dad were Seasiders done growed up.  As did his step-sister Victoria, who we met when her Dad married Daniel’s Mom.  Daniel and Victoria achieved their graduation milestone, so we wanted to get up to their new home in Pearland and sign their graduation puppy dogs and eat their chicken fajitas.  Thanks for inviting us to celebrate with you, Daniel and Victoria.  We are truly proud of you.

Psalms 67:4 says, “May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the peoples justly and guide the nations of the earth.”

Father, walk with Daniel and Victoria through the next phase of their lives as they head to college.  Draw them close to you.  Amen.
