October 9 – “Usual Time”

Today would be our day to work in the yard, right?  Not so much.  We had Cailyn for the day.  Her Mom and Dad were given tickets to the Renaissance Festival and they figured she would be happier with Nana and DadDad.  Of course she would be.  Who wouldn't?  Their plan is to be back in the early evening sometime.  That's convenient, because we also have to be at Kel and Christina's from 5 to 9 so they can do something, too.  I don't know what their plans are, but we are supposed to be there by 5-ish.  That way they can "go to bed at their usual time."  Come on.  What is "usual time" when grandparents are around?  Besides, Cousin Cailyn will probably be there at least for awhile, too.  Party.

We took Cailyn with us to two baseball games today.  Micah played t-ball at 10:45 and Jachin played machine pitch at 2.  Micah and the other 4 year olds were a lot of fun to watch.  One little guy hit the ball and as he ran to first, he mugged for the fans in the bleachers.  His grin was priceless until he fell down.  Micah did great.  Got an RBI his first time up.  Scored a run his second time.  One of the little guys said he was done at one point.  His coach asked what was the matter.  His answer: "It's too hot."

Jachin is 6 so his game was a bit more intense.  He hit the ball well both time up.  His second at bat he dropped a perfect drag bunt down the third base line and easily beat it out.  He bats left handed.  So does Micah.  Jachin throws left handed, too.  Micah throws with whatever hand happens to not have a glove on it at the time.  He switches back and forth.  Must be nice.

We got to Kel's house.  They all met us on the front porch.  Even Lucy, the dog.  Not sure if that's a good thing or not.  I think I heard Christina ask if Lucy could stay with us while they all went to Mansfield.  There's some fun.  For Fritz, anyway.

Supper was black eyed peas, green beans, macaroni and cheese, and dinosaur shaped chicken strips.  And of course ketchup.  Lots of ketchup.  Great meal.

Colossians 3:2-3 says, "Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.  For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God."

Father, I could us a break from allergies.  And Chris could use some intervention in her stress life, too.  Amen.
