We found out this afternoon that Chris will not get to go to camp this week after all. Her Mom has a doctor's appointment and chemo treatment scheduled for Tuesday, and she wants Chris to be there to hear the doctor's answers to her "list of questions." Chris had really mixed emotions, because that will leave us shorthanded as far as female counselors go, but she feels a strong sense of obligation to her Mom as well. And I have to admit I was disappointed as well. Camp is the one time during the year when Chris gets to relax and worship. For two Sundays she doesn't have to teach the little guys in the nursery during church. And it's fun to hang out with my best friend. But, Hey. Family wins. It will all work out. Our bookcases were delivered just as we were leaving for a camp meeting at church. They are darker than Chris hoped, but they will work. We moved the loveseat from the office into the garage. We also brought home some stuff from Terri's garage. A tall, skinny cabinet we saved from Mom's garage. That's for our bathroom. A rocking chair that was my grandmother's. That will join another one we have already cleaned up as replacements for the loveseat in the office. The frame from one of those antique sewing machines. The lid to what used to be our cedar chest. Those two will be united to form a table to sit in the front window. The two sideboards from our old bed. Somehow Chris plans to put all that together into a coherent whole that will look good inside. I tried to decipher some more of the Seaside Christian Academy files today. It is very frustrating to come into the middle of someone else's thought process. I need to order curriculum, but first I have to figure out who needs to take what courses and what books we already have. One of the students' dad volunteered to help teach next semester. He's a pastor, so at this point I plan to ask him to plan on taking the Bible class. Now we need to hear from the Science teacher, and get someone to teach Math and English to the upper grades. We could also use another elementary teacher. And above all else, we need a headmaster /principal. No workers showed up today. But we did pick up the rug for the office. It looks good in there. We moved the one from there into the family room. Now Cailyn has a bit of padding when she scoots around. Psalms 4:5 says, "Offer right sacrifices and trust in the Lord." Father, please meet our need for teachers soon. This can get very stressful. Amen. |
