Great start to our day (NOT). I put my hearing aides in, as usual. But I immediately noticed a problem. The left one didn’t squeal when I picked it up. That was a major red flag. And when I changed out the protective coverings (which usually solves that sort of problem), I couldn’t even get the replacements to insert. Great. That meant we had to add a trip to the ear clinic to our already full day.
There were really nice at the clinic. Even tried to get it done while we waited, but everybody was in with an appointment. So we dropped it off.
Surprisingly, while we waited, a customer who we shared the elevator with (guess technically that should be “with whom”) heard me spell my name to the girls at the desk. Come to find out, her maiden name is Vaughan. With an A. Always great to meet another cousin!
Our shopping trip finally got started. First stop … Marshalls. We rarely go there, but we have heard some good things recently. I thought it was a clothing store. Surprised me. Oh, there were clothes, all right. But that place is a gold mine of random … stuff.
We went back home to grab some lunch. We also whipped out the old Christmas list to get a handle on what we still needed to get. Then it was on to Walmart.
Although Christmas shopping was top of the list, we also needed a few grocery items to be prepared for the party next week. As it turned out, we got one Christmas present, the supplies I need for the Reindeer Games, and a basketful of groceries. Kinda backwards to what we anticipated, but needed nonetheless. Hey. Ya gotta eat.
John 10:11 says, I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
Father, thanks for that lady we met named Vaughan. Bless her. Amen.
